September 2006 Ponderosa Park Association Newsletter
The picnic was a huge success. We had great food, a fun silent auction and great
people! We had about 60 people attend this year and there were hamburgers and chicken
aplenty. We had many wonderful side dishes and desserts made by our members. The afternoon
time seemed to work out well. The silent auction brought about $260. At the meeting before
the picnic, we decided to keep the money in a separate column to be used for picnic area
improvement or a permanent sign for the association to announce functions and dates and
times.
Many thanks to Judy Midkiff for all of her hard work preparing and putting up the signs
for the picnic, as well as getting all of the food and condiments and beverages together.
Also, thanks to Larry Peterson and Dick Wise for cooking.
Every year I recognize a few more people and meet a few more new people. It was great
fun!
We now have a web site. Our url for the website is PonderosaParkAssociation.org and we
thank Ray Sola for all of his hard work in making this happen for us. It will only cost us
$15 per year. If you care to have something put on the website, you may contact Ray at
RSola at Ponderosa Park Association.org. We are coming of age! From now on, we will put all
minutes and newsletters and other various information on the website.
Unless you request it from me in writing I will be posting all of the information on
the website and not sending out the expensive mailings. If you do request it in writing,
we will send you the newsletters by mail. This will be the last newsletter until spring.
Ive had several telephone calls and there has been much discussion at the last
two meetings concerning fast and/or unlicensed vehicles on the park roads. As far as I
know the only recourse is to call the sheriffs office. They will ask you if you know
the address where the vehicle operator resides, and that is helpful to them. They will
send someone out if they have someone available at the time, as long as the vehicle or
vehicles are operating illegally at that time. They cant do anything unless they
catch them breaking the law.
Christmas tree decorations are not going to be allowed by the forest service unless on
private land. There will be fines and they say they will remove the decorations. They cite
the danger to the animals who might ingest them as well as the clutter along the road
after the winds blow.
Let us continue to build community and have a wonderful winter! From time to time
well give some snow reports on the web site and maybe a picture here and there to
let the summer people see what is going on here.
