May 2007 Ponderosa Park Association Newsletter

Another summer is here; it was a pretty dry and cold winter. We even had a few mornings of single digit temps and more wind than usual it seemed. Anyway it is time to get some plans and ideas for our community. A few of the board members gathered the other day and came up with a few ideas. We will have a park-wide meeting at 10 AM, Sat. May 26th at the picnic area. Hope to see many of you there.

To help with fire danger, we are planning a dumpster for pine needles and slash from property cleanup on June 16th. Please don’t use this for garbage removal. Central Yavapai fire dept. has come through with a dumpster. There will be no charge. Thank you Charlie Cook and Yavapai central. If we have to pay for a dumpster in the future there will be a $5 fee per load to offset expense. Homeowner members will get their first load free. What a deal!

We will be purchasing and installing stand-up bar-b-que pits for the picnic area. By the way, the picnic area is open for use by all residents of the park. If you need to move the tables around, myself or someone on the board will be glad to unlock them, if you give me advanced notice.

We are also going to construct a sandwich board type sign for notifying residents of homeowner events such as meetings, picnics, etc. There is some interest again for a community-wide yard sale, hoping that ten or so yard sales on the same weekend might attract more people to come out. If someone would like to coordinate such an event, the homeowners have in the past paid for advertisement and sign stock.

This is the only newsletter that we try to send to all park residents. However, anyone can retrieve it off our web site. Further hard copies will go to members only. Membership is only $20 a year, due in May. The money is used for community projects and the annual picnic, which is open to all residents of Ponderosa Park.

We have sponsored information-type forums in the past, such as firewise, landscaping, gardening tips about plants that do well and the pigs don’t like, etc. Estherly Allen, a PPA member, is interested in having a meeting concerning wild and domestic animals in the park. We have some feral cats, unleashed or barking dogs, skunks, raccoons, coyotes and even deer that are sometimes a concern, at least for some. If interested, call Estherly. She is having a meeting may 19th at her home at 1600 Reservior Rd. Her phone number is 928 443-9100.

Our web site is www.PonderosaParkAssociation.org We hope to make more use of it this year. It could be a real asset to everyone in the park for getting and posting information, setting up networks for things like evacuating animals if a fire broke out when owners are away or working.

The current officers are Mike Brockert, President; Allen Laudenslager, Vice-president; Geoff Erb, Treasurer; Anna Watson, Secretary. The board members are Susie Brady, Larry Peterson, Judy Midkiff And Mike Robinson.

We will be having a meeting in July to elect new officers for the coming year, the date to be announced.

Note: The Ponderosa Park signs at the entrances to the park are not for posting any notices. There are three bulletin boards that we share with the water company for posting non-business park information. Please use those.

We are looking for any residents in the park who would be interested in sponsoring the newsletter by having an advertisement for their business on the back.

Mike Brockert, President
