Allen Laudenslager coyote

Allen Laudenslager - We saw this coyote from our back door in February. There have also been many afternoon sightings of javelina by Park residents. Please don’t leave pet food out and keep your pets safe.

President’s Corner

I spoke with the Yavapai county roads department about planned road work in the park. Below is scheduled work.

Pine Cone Way and Boulder are scheduled for paving in the 2008/2009 time frame.

I also asked them about the deep erosion ditch on Kaibab. They will get back to me for a site inspection and then keep me posted about fixing that problem.

Kaibab was scheduled for paving last summer; however, budgets have caused it to be pushed back to 2011.

U.S. Forest Service News

Representatives of the Forest Service informed me that this Spring they will be cutting brush on the east side of Ponderosa Road. The west side will receive additional cutting. Once they complete that work, they will create firebreaks and burn all of the accumulated brush. I have asked to meet with them at their earliest convenience to show them the areas of concern we have regarding emergency evacuations. The board of directors is concerned that the Park residents could be vulnerable during a fire evacuation due to the accumulated brush currently sitting along the side of Ponderosa Road. We would like to see this cleared prior to the fire season.

Members of the U.S. Forest Service have also agreed to discuss fire safety tips at our Spring or Summer homeowners meeting.

A general meeting will be held at 10:00AM on May 10, 2008 at the park on Libby Loop

We are now accepting dues for 2008

Annual dues are $20.00 per household and may be paid by check. Please mail your check to our Treasurer, Mike Brokert, at 4886 Juniper Loop, Prescott, AZ 86303

We would like to start some “meet the neighbors” parties at the Park this summer and are asking for volunteers to host the party. The host will need to pick a date and help put up signs with the date and time of the party. Some suggestions were for pot luck or snack meals where the host picks a theme and asks for people to bring a plate to share. The association will provide soft drinks and ice.

If anyone has any suggestions for activities they would like to see the association sponsor, please plan to attend the General Meeting on May 10th at the Park and tell us what you would like the association to do.

One of the members is coordinating with the US Forest Service to put up some fire awareness signs of the “Burma Shave” type. If you’re not familiar with these signs from the 1950s we’ll tell you all about them at the May meeting. As part of these signs, we will be putting up some boxes of fire awareness information at the bulletin board near the fire station on Ponderosa Road.

One of the members suggested that we enroll in the “Firewise Community” program. This program is free to communities but will require someone to chair a working group that will ensure that the handout boxes are kept stocked with the appropriate documents. We would like to find someone willing to take on this public service task.

The board has authorized a spring clean up dumpster and more information will be posted when we know the dates.
